What can I expect?
Walking into a new church can be intimidating and at times terrifying depending on your previous church experience. If you are considering attending one of our services, don't hesitate to make the next step and come check it out! We can’t fully describe what you will experience, but at least we can try to give you an idea of what to expect.
We hope you will notice a down-to-earth and genuinely friendly atmosphere. During the services themselves, you can expect to enjoy clear, God-honoring music and fervent, practical preaching. We have traditional services using the piano and hymnals for our music and use the King James Version of the Bible. While that may seem old-fashioned our goal is to sing with heart-filled joy and do our best to sing to God and not each other.
You might be wondering, "What should I wear when visiting Hope Baptist Church?" While we never apologize for encouraging people to "dress their best" for church, you will find people from all walks of life and backgrounds who feel very much at home in our services.
Our Sunday afternoon Bible studies combine the adult age groups and there is a special combined class for the children (scroll down to learn more). Thursday nights our all-age Bible study has a music service, Bible study time, and a time of going through prayer requests and praying specifically for them.
Our church is handicapped accessible with a portable ramp, just let us know you need it and we will have it ready upon your arrival.

Here is what we are doing:
-We have our chair rows spread as far apart from each other as we can in our building.
-Each person can use their own individual hymnal. Hymnals are only used in the Sunday morning and Thursday evening services to prevent transferring germs.
-Sanitization is done between services in the auditorium and the children's area with high quality cleaners and with an air purification unit.
-Masks and hand sanitizer are available if you would like to use them and we are asking our members and guests to refrain from handshaking and hugging. Masks will not be required, however, if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask and/or gloves this would be perfectly acceptable.
-We are also encouraging people to stay home if you are feeling ill or have had a fever or signs of illness prior to a church service or have known to be exposed to contagious illnesses of any sort.
-Our offering plate is handled by one usher during the offertory and is not passed around.
If you have any questions regarding our policies and procedures during this time we encourage you to call the church at (602) 831-2223.

Caring nursery workers are available Sunday mornings for infants and toddlers through age 2. The nursery is also available for mom's to use during any service as needed.
The Archers Kid's Class is specifically designed to teach Bible Stories and engage kids 3 years old through the 4th grade. We aim to help them grow spiritually at their level. Archers meet every Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM. We like to teach scripture songs and fun Bible songs, the books of the Bible, and Bible lessons. Our goal while children are in our care is to teach them about Christ's salvation and His desire for them to trust Him as Saviour then grow as a Christian using the Bible.
We make your children’s safety a priority. Because of that, if you arrive a few minutes early for church, you can engage our teachers and nursery workers. You are welcome to sit in on classes with your kids until you are comfortable. If you would like to have your children sit with you in the auditorium, that's great too.
Prior to recent health concerns we already had an established sickness policy for our nursery and children's ministries to help prevent illness from spreading and continue to monitor children in the services and will kindly contact parents if a problem arises.
Please note: We are a small church and there are times when a children's class may not be available because of a limited amount of workers or our classes are combined to hear a missionary or special speaker.
Should I bring my kids to a Sunday morning or Thursday night combined service?
YES! We know and understand that kids will not be perfectly still and may talk aloud during a church service. We hope that we can show grace to those who are learning or those who struggle. Babies will cry and some kids will have good days and bad days, and that's okay! We also encourage parents to invest time at home in training and educating their children for the upcoming activities and the manners associated with attending church services to help them know what to expect when they are in the service. Quiet activities such as coloring, drawing, or having a small toy are very helpful at times when kids need to occupy busy minds. When a preacher preaches God's Word and even a little child (or big one!) hears then they are learning to listen. While they may not know it yet, it will instill in them faith and the foundational truths of the Bible. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God," Romans 10:17
If you're hesitant to bring your child because they can't sit still, then come anyway. Consistency is key to helping them learn to adjust to the surroundings and experience of worshipping and learning with God's people assembled together. If you have a bad day in a church service, don't quit! Keep coming, it's never a good idea to stop one of the most beneficial activities of your child's life on a bad day. We love kids and we are dedicated to seeing the next generation of Christians learning and growing at our church.
